Hello and welcome to my website, here you will find many curious, strange, intriguing and inspiring imagery displayed in a variety of mediums.
I am currently co-owner of Black Shamrock tattoo parlor along with my good friend, Jimmy Bertram in Bakersfield, California.
I was born in Bakersfield, California in 1978 of a mother who was a seamstress and housewife and of a father who was wilderness enthusiast and a local county deputy Sheriff. Growing up as a child I was homeschooled which enabled me to spend a lot of my time with my grandmother. She's who I must give credit to for my creative inspiration and love of art. She was my teacher of the various mediums of art from the basics like negative space and perspective to pencil sketching, pastels, watercolors to oil painting since the age of 9 years.
I began my professional art career as a computer graphic artist in 1996, creating CG for a company called Soft Touch. They develop educational computer games for disabled children. Since then I've had many clients which include Warner Brothers, Virigin Atlantic Airlines, Toms shoes, Red Bull, True Blunts, Global Inheritance, Coachella, and X-Games. My art has even been displayed inside the entrance hall of the Grammys, which was a huge honor.
I started tattooing in 1997 at Naked Al's tattoo and once I started I just couldn't stop. I was not given much of a formal apprenticeship, after 2 weeks of practicing on friends under the shop owners guidance, he said I was ready to work at the shop. Luckily I developed some great friends from that shop that I'm still friends with and even work with to this day! Its been a great adventure and I'm loving every minute of it.
In 2001, I teamed up with a friend of mine and we started our own clothing company and we called it RZST, pronounced resist. It was inspired by the events of September 11th in NYC. We felt the general public was asking for clothing that inspired a mental awakening and spoke a message of positivity while being fashionable and comfortable at the same time. The goal was to inspire people to be aware of the things around them and the things they must resist to keep a positive attitude and a positive path.
